Why the app never gives you the real file

TikTok stores a profile picture as a square image and then displays it as a small circle. Screenshotting that circle gives you a cropped, re-compressed copy at whatever size your phone rendered it — usually a couple of hundred pixels with the corners gone. This tool asks TikTok for the stored image instead, so what you save is the original square at the largest resolution the account published.

What you can and can't reach

Only public profiles. If an account is private, or the username is misspelled, the lookup fails and says so — there is no back door and we wouldn't build one. The request behaves like an ordinary visit to a public profile page: nothing is posted or followed on your behalf, nobody is notified, and you never hand over a password.

Whose picture is it?

Not yours, unless you made it. Saving someone's avatar for reference, a mock-up or a group chat is ordinary use. Reposting it as your own — or running an account that pretends to be them — is impersonation, and it is one of the faster ways to lose an account. If what you actually want is a good profile picture of your own, start with a handle that fits it rather than someone else's photo.
