The honest YPP math: subscribers are only half
As of 4 October 2026, YouTube's Partner Program has two tiers, and subscribers are only part of each:
- 500 subscribers — fan funding and Shopping (channel memberships, Super Chat and Super Stickers, Super Thanks, gifts), with 3 public uploads in the last 90 days and either 3,000 qualified watch hours in 12 months or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days.
- 1,000 subscribers — ad and Premium revenue sharing, with 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months, or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days.
- From 1 February 2027 (announced 10 August 2026), new applicants for ad and Premium revenue sharing need 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days, or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Channels already in the programme are not affected, and the 500-subscriber tier stays where it is.
Bought subscribers from real accounts can help with the subscriber side and give your channel social proof that makes organic viewers more likely to subscribe — but they do not generate watch hours or Shorts views. No subscriber package, from any provider, clears the viewing requirement on either tier. For that side of the equation you need real viewing: watch time hours attack the hours threshold directly (watch hours from Shorts in the Shorts feed don't count toward it), and YouTube views build the momentum that earns organic watch time. Treat any site that promises "monetization in one purchase" as a red flag.
Red flags to walk away from
- Any site that asks for your Google or YouTube password — never required, always a scam signal.
